Multi-Media Jamaica Ltd. (MMJ) ,
a member of the RJR Communications Group, has announced that it has
signed a broadcast distribution agreement with Jump TV Inc. for the
distribution of TVJ’s signal over the internet.
Michael Bryce, Acting General Manager of Multi-Media Jamaica Ltd. (MMJ), says
the partnership with JUMP TV “will allow us to reach the 2.5 million
Jamaicans living away from home, literally doubling TVJ’s viewership.”
He
says the service is scheduled to be online October 01 and subscribers
to the TVJ internet stream will be required to have broadband to access
the programming which is competitively priced.
Kay Osborne, General Manager of Television Jamaica Ltd. (TVJ)
says the move is in keeping with TVJ’s strategy to use global
connectivity to provide real time Jamaican programmes to a worldwide
audience that includes Jamaicans living overseas who want to remain
informed on what’s happening in Jamaica and the vast general market
audience that’s interested in Jamaican cultural outputs.
Ms.
Osborne added, “Every local programme that TVJ broadcasts will be
transmitted simultaneously over the internet. These include Prime Time
News and Sports; TVJ’s morning show “Smile Jamaica, its Morning Time”,
popular entertainment programmes Entertainment Report, ER2 and Rising
Stars; talk shows, Religious Hard Talk, All Angles, Profile; children’s
shows, Schools Challenge Quiz, Junior Schools Challenge Quiz, All
Together Sing and the community town hall programme, Your Issues Live.
“Through
the MMJ partnership with Jump TV, TVJ leaps into the future to serve
the world. We’re very excited about the potential for growth and
engagement with various audiences that could result from this
partnership,” she said.

The
MMJ agreement for the broadcast of TVJ was signed subsequent to the
Company’s (JUMP TV) June 30, 2006 quarter end disclosure. JumpTV now has 212 channels under license.
