TVJ to be distributed on JUMP TV
Multi-Media Jamaica Ltd. (MMJ) , a member of the RJR Communications Group, has announced that it has signed a broadcast distribution agreement with Jump TV Inc. for the distribution of TVJ’s signal over the internet.

Michael Bryce, Acting General Manager of Multi-Media Jamaica Ltd. (MMJ), says the partnership with JUMP TV “will allow us to reach the 2.5 million Jamaicans living away from home, literally doubling TVJ’s viewership.”

He says the service is scheduled to be online October 01 and subscribers to the TVJ internet stream will be required to have broadband to access the programming which is competitively priced.

Kay Osborne, General Manager of Television Jamaica Ltd. (TVJ) says the move is in keeping with TVJ’s strategy to use global connectivity to provide real time Jamaican programmes to a worldwide audience that includes Jamaicans living overseas who want to remain informed on what’s happening in Jamaica and the vast general market audience that’s interested in Jamaican cultural outputs.

Ms. Osborne added, “Every local programme that TVJ broadcasts will be transmitted simultaneously over the internet. These include Prime Time News and Sports; TVJ’s morning show “Smile Jamaica, its Morning Time”, popular entertainment programmes Entertainment Report, ER2 and Rising Stars; talk shows, Religious Hard Talk, All Angles, Profile; children’s shows, Schools Challenge Quiz, Junior Schools Challenge Quiz, All Together Sing and the community town hall programme, Your Issues Live.

“Through the MMJ partnership with Jump TV, TVJ leaps into the future to serve the world. We’re very excited about the potential for growth and engagement with various audiences that could result from this partnership,” she said.

Douglas Ames, Vice President, Caribbean and West Africa for JumpTV, which is the world's leading broadcaster of ethnic television over the Internet, said “by partnering with Multi-Media Jamaica Ltd. for the broadcast of TVJ, JumpTV offers Jamaicans living abroad the ability to stay connected to the country’s latest cultural events and entertainment on a real-time basis.  Currently, there are just as many Jamaicans living outside of the country as there are in Jamaica, with a majority residing in countries with high-broadband penetration such as the UK, the United States and Canada .”

Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, president and chief executive officer of JumpTV International added, “We are excited that MMJ chose JumpTV to distribute TVJ’s popular content to Jamaicans around the world.  The addition of TVJ, has further established JumpTV as a leading broadcaster of ethnic television over the Internet.”

The MMJ agreement for the broadcast of TVJ was signed subsequent to the Company’s (JUMP TV) June 30, 2006 quarter end disclosure.  JumpTV now has 212 channels under license.
